Books come to me needing many different kinds of repairs. Some books have covers damaged or missing, pages often need repairing, other books need resewing or completely rebinding. This page shows example of books that have been repaired here.  

RECIPE BOOK                                                

This customer brought me an old family hand-written recipe book. It was in two parts: a recipe book and an old exercise book together in a badly damaged cover (left photo). All the pages of the exercise book were frail and damaged (centre photo). Both books contained newspaper recipes stapled in or loose. With the customer's agreement the staples were removed and the loose cuttings were glued in. The exercise book pages were too fragile to be used in a kitchen so they were laminated and bound together. The recipe book and exercise book were then sewn together and the whole re-covered and titled (right photo). The recipe book was now in a stable and lasting condition ready to be passed on for use by the next generation.

FAMILY BIBLE

This Bible was brought to me in pieces and with the front cover and one of the endpapers missing. The back cover was substituted for the missing front cover and a new plain back and spine were made of matching leather. Necessary repairs were made and missing endpapers at the back were replaced. A few of the pictures were cleaned. The old spine was repositioned and the whole was given a coating of leather preservative.
