Polly Bird and bookbinding
Polly Bird first learnt bookbinding during two years of evening classes at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts in London. Then life intervened. She raised three children, became the published author of 18 business and training books and successfully completed a history PhD. She also took art classes whenever possible. She then returned to bookbinding and has retrained with Derek Bradford at the Lit and Phil in Newcastle upon Tyne for three and a half years.
Polly is passionate about books. As well as being an experienced bookbinder her history training means she appreciates their value as both personal possessions and historical records
